Be Still… And Let Your Nail Polish Dry

Good morning,

We were at a dinner last night and I knew about half the people and got to know a few of the strangers by having conversation and discussing things to make us known to each other. Amazing how quickly you can find out a lot about strangers by the questions they ask and the ones you ask about. Minnesotans always want to find relatable things with strangers. We look for a connection! Not sure why we do that but it might be why they call us Minnesota Nice!! Anyway, we ask them what they do, where they live… things to get an understanding of who the new person is. Sometimes you meet a new best friend, sometimes a great acquaintance, but you always get a sense of what that person is like.

It reminds me of when I really met Jesus, 10 years ago at the Sharp project. The Sharp project was a house we remodeled for a wonderful family in our community that had taken in 30 or more foster kids and needed a new house really bad. That project gave me so much more than I gave them!! Getting to know Jesus by reading my Bible for the first time and watching Christian TV so I could understand what I had with Jesus, and how much He shows up when we invite him in. I, to this day, 10 years later, spend time with Him every morning. I talk to him all day with little prayers of help or thanks or protection or whatever I need, because I know He has an answer for me. I am a busy person just like all of you, but I slow down each day and, like the title of one of my books a friend gave me years ago, “Be Still and Let Your Nail Polish Dry!” by Andrea Boeshnaar, Sandra D Bricker, Loree Lough, and Debby Mayne. Great Christian book, great visual for us ladies, because everyone knows you have to sit still and resist the urge to move your hands or you will botch it because you moved too quick! Same with Jesus, be still in your mind and just walk slowly with Him! Get quiet and read about Him! Listen to music that praises and glorifies Him! It will change your life!!

I was watching Christian TV yesterday and the author John Mark Comer has a new book, God Has A Name.

He was on talking about how God is NOT a source field like on Star Wars (he paused and said, “By the way, I love Star Wars”), but a relatable being with a name and personality traits. Jesus tells us what He is like. What his personality is all about. He is soft and strong at the same time. He is Merciful and Just! He takes Justice very seriously. That horrible shooter in Las Vegas will be tried by God for his crimes! Like the Bible says, “Woe to him who hurts any of my children!”

Only with Jesus as our Savior, He traded places with those who believe in him and we will never pay like Jesus did. We are forgiven, loved, and eternally in a relationship with God.

The Book of Exodus in chapters 33 and 34 describes Yahweh, Jesus, The LORD’s, personality. When Moses wants to see him, He says: “You have found favor in my sight and I know you by name.”
“I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’
And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
But, he said. “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.”
And the LORD said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock.
And while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
Then I will take away my hand and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.” (Exodus 33:17-23).

The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, The LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty. (Exodus 34:5)

Get to know Jesus! Spend time with Him! He is the one person who is always there for you and has Angels, His word, and many, many other ways to show you He loves you beyond reason and without reservation, performance, guilt, or any other blocker you could ever think of!!

Love you, Teri
