Good morning,
Today is my oldest son, Charlie’s, birthday!! Yay, I love birthdays! Of course Steve and I are so blessed and thankful, thankful, thankful for Charlie, but it doesn’t stop there. Charlie once told me, after having his own son, “I didn’t think about or realize how much my son was going to mean to so many other people!”
All Charlie’s life, teachers, family, friends, and neighbors have taken the time to either write me a note, call me, or in some way tell me how much they like Charlie! He has a wonderful way of being confident, vulnerable, fun, caring, thoughtful, and testy all at the same time. It endears people to him, because he is real. As a kid, Charlie knew how to obey, follow the rules, and get along… not always perfect, but who cared if it was perfect, we cared that he was trying! As his mother, I love that he is real and knows that he is loved beyond reason and that I would love him no matter what he was like or what anyone thought or said about him, because he is mine!
All Jesus asks of us is to be real! He loves us no matter what, because we are His. He knows that if we will say sorry when we have hurt someone, look at our actions when problems are all around, if we will trust Him first with every little thing and humble ourselves to obey, then all will eventually work out for our good. We throw a party for someone’s birthday, because we want to celebrate them coming into the world. We celebrate Christmas, because we celebrate Jesus coming into the world. We give presents because each of us is a gift! The gifts represent receiving! You cannot enjoy a gift if you won’t open it.
Receive Christ. We all need Him in our life, He is a gift that has to be invited in with a humble heart that says: Forgive me of my sins, come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. If we will say that prayer, we have torn off the ribbon, opened the box, looked inside, and are so thankful Jesus thought enough about me, that He came to my party and loved me and will never leave me ever, for eternity!!
Love you, Teri
