God, You Go in First

Good morning,

I was watching a Christian woman on the internet and I loved this statement and paragraph quote:

“God, you go in first and then I’ll follow.” Asking God to go in first works for me because I know He’s there. He’s always there, but when we invite Him in, when we invite Him into a situation, He’s thrilled. He wants to help. He wants to be invited in the details of our lives, and when He goes in first, I’m good.

Isn’t that a great statement and paragraph: God, you go in first and then I’ll follow. This can be applied at a meeting, grocery shopping, work, school, or new situation. Boarding a plane, driving to work, going to a ballgame, heading to surgery, going to a doctor appointment, etc.

Let’s say you have just started a new lifestyle of eating healthy. If you ask Him to go in first to the grocery store and help figure this out, He can make the experience so wisdom-filled and easy.

Let’s say you have a family member going into surgery. If you ask Him to go in first and guide the procedure and calm all involved, He can give the situation an anointing of ease.

Let’s say you have a sport, dance, new business… You fill in the blank. He will lead and we can follow.

I remember my 50th birthday party at Lafayette Club and inviting Jesus to come. I don’t know what prompted me to say that but as I walked in I casually said, “Jesus, I want you to come tonight, too!” I forgot all about it but when my friend Marla developed the pictures, because that was how we used to do pictures seven short years ago (LOL), and she brought them over to show me she said, “Look at the crosses in the windows and one mirror surrounding the party!” There they were, clear as can be: Three huge white crosses, one in each window and one in the mirror! I said, “Marla, I remember casually inviting Jesus to the party as I walked in. He is saying ‘thank you, I would be glad to come!!’” I still have the picture hanging on the wall in my office at home!! It is true: Jesus is a friend and a relative!! He wants to be included in our life. Not just to protect us or get us out of trouble. He wants to be personally involved with us.

God is good! He is not mad, difficult, or distant. He doesn’t count your sins and wait to catch you screwing up. He is love like we can’t even fathom. He is for us. He has strong shoulders and knows everything. Why on earth wouldn’t we say as a Christ follower, “God you go in first and then I’ll follow!” So easy and it makes perfect sense.

Love you, Teri
