My Mom’s New iPhone

Good morning,

My mom recently bought a new iPhone. Anyone remember what it is like to learn a new electronic?? She is doing really good considering she is in her 80s and switched from a Samsung. The thing you remember as you help someone figure out what they want to do, is how many steps each thing takes. We get–I will call it–muscle memory, and forget how exactly we do a text or send a picture or, heaven forbid, copy and paste something on a phone! What is frustrating, long, starting over, describing a green picture with a balloon in the middle… message. I just start to laugh and yell, “Yes, yes that is right.” Hilarious, and really hard when you are not with them trying to do this. Well, learning an iPhone is very similar to a new Christian trying to understand God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit or a person who grew up with a harsh religion or a wrong church experience.

First, just like my mom knows, this phone can do so many things. It is packed with layers and layers of things to learn, all for her! There is nothing lacking in the phone to make calls, text, emails, take pictures, do Instagram… Mind-boggling, really, all the things a phone can do.

First, God is lacking nothing!! He is capable of all things. He has already provided, healed, saved, etc. It is all there.

Second, my mom needs someone to help her learn, then she needs to practice, a lot, how to apply what she is learning so she remembers what she has.

Second, we need the same things, teachers, ministers, Christian TV, radio, music, and Christ filled friends to tell us how to apply what God has already given us.

Third, even if her phone breaks, gets lost, or she doesn’t charge it, the telephone air waves are still there.

Third, God is always loving, He is always satisfied with a person who puts their trust in His Son. Even if we are hurt, taught wrong, have doubt, don’t feel Him, are mad at Him, praying and we think the prayer isn’t getting answered, God doesn’t stop transmitting. He is always there!!

Fourth, my mom, if she wants to use her iPhone, has to learn how it works. The better she is at using it, the more she will learn its capabilities.

Fourth, God has given us a book telling us how He works. He is love, He is for you, He has Scriptures that help you ask for more of Him. He has already given us anything we could ever need.

We need to learn that we don’t beg for someone to get healed, we tell whatever sickness is in them to leave their body, because healing is already dealt with in Jesus Christ.

Faith and receiving may seem strange, but this is how the phone works, to coin a phrase. We need to learn that just because we want to text a message in the phone area, that is not how it works. God doesn’t love you because of your good deeds. He doesn’t heal the good ones or randomly choose to answer a prayer because you finally prayed it enough. He says you already have it, now take your authority as my child and speak to your problem and believe, have faith, do not doubt, and what you prayed will be given unto you in Jesus’ name!! Mark 11:23

God is amazing. We are His and He loves us beyond our capacity to receive!! Get a new understanding of this and start to learn how it works!!! Ask God for understanding and revelation like in Ephesians 1:17-23.

Love you, Teri

Mark 11:23, Living Bible (TLB)

22-23 In reply Jesus said to the disciples, “If you only have faith in God—this is the absolute truth—you can say to this Mount of Olives, ‘Rise up and fall into the Mediterranean,’ and your command will be obeyed. All that’s required is that you really believe and have no doubt!

Ephesians 1:17-23, Living Bible (TLB)

16-17 I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you wisdom to see clearly and really understand who Christ is and all that he has done for you. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can see something of the future he has called you to share. I want you to realize that God has been made rich because we who are Christ’s have been given to him! 19 I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him. It is that same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in heaven, 21 far, far above any other king or ruler or dictator or leader. Yes, his honor is far more glorious than that of anyone else either in this world or in the world to come. 22 And God has put all things under his feet and made him the supreme Head of the Church— 23 which is his body, filled with himself, the Author and Giver of everything everywhere.
