New, Does Not Come First in a Remodel

Good morning,

I have a new client who is doing a big remodel on their home and she is excited but “terrified,” was her word, at the same time. I totally understand her position. She has just met me and says she really likes me but truly all she knows is that her good friend trusted me and she loves her remodel. So, she is choosing to trust me, be positive, and put her confidence in that.

She is making a choice to improve her house but you have to trust a lot with that decision. I am going to help her as much as I can to relax and know that we have got this, we are for her, and we love what we do. We are going to take her house to studs and some of the roof. That is scary stuff! The process I can tell her is filled with these emotions: exciting, expensive, big change, slow, doubt, awful, and then it is finished and new and over and she has lived through it and it is time to let go of the process and thrive in your new surroundings.

It is like having children, going to college, changing where you live, getting divorced, getting married, losing a spouse, making a career change, going through sickness… fill in the blank.

All things are filled with challenges. Emotions are to be controlled. What you speak is to be controlled. Who we trust in, Christ, is to be learned every day!

I read a great teaching this morning from my Jesus Today book: “Let my comfort delight your soul. The world presents you with a multitude of anxieties—too numerous for you to count. Everywhere you turn, you see problems and trouble. In the midst of this mess, look to Me for help. Whisper My Name, ‘Jesus,’ thus reactivating your awareness of My Presence. Your perspective changes dramatically as My Presence comes onto the screen of your consciousness, lighting up your worldview. My comforts can soothe your troubled heart and delight your soul.

“If the world were perfect, you would never experience the pleasure of receiving comfort from Me. Instead of letting problems discourage you, use them as reminders to seek Me—My Presence, My Peace, My Love. These invisible realities are available to you any time, any place, and they provide Joy that no one can take away from you. So, come to me when you are weary and burdened; I will provide rest for your soul.”

The building process is so comparable to our life with Christ. We have to get rid of the old, trust in God, renew our minds on his Word, pick our words to say what we want! So many people, if you listen to them, speak all day long what they do not want!! Protect our joy, and relax in the process of becoming better and better each day! Hopefully one day we have learned to let go of the past, live for today, and let tomorrow take care of itself!

We cannot start a remodel without following what comes in sequence, NEW does not come first and DEMO day last… no matter how much a person could wish for it!

Love you, Teri
