How Kind Are You?

Good morning,

One of my favorite authors is Max Lucado. He is so calm and has kind of a rhythm and rhyme to the way he talks and writes. I actually met him and his wife at a coffee shop one time in Miami. We talked for 10 minutes while waiting in line about my purse that she liked, and the boat trip I was about to take and one they had taken years ago with their kids. The funny thing was I didn’t recognize him at the coffee shop, but on the plane when I took out the book I had brought by Max Lucado, his picture was on the back cover. I could not believe I didn’t recognize him in line!! I knew what he looked like, but I was focused on getting five people food and drinks and was just being kind and talking with this nice couple who liked my purse!! I am actually glad I didn’t recognize him and get all stalker-like and want a selfie or autograph or something… LOL!

Max has a devotional that he sends out each day to my email and today the one below, on kindness, I so agree with. He writes:

“I’ve attended my share of seminars on strategizing and team building. But I can’t say I’ve ever attended or even heard of one lecture on kindness. Jesus, however, would take issue with our priorities. ‘Go and learn what this means,’ he commands. ‘I want kindness more than I want animal sacrifices’ (Matthew 9:13).

How kind are you? Which person is the most overlooked or avoided? A shy student? A grumpy employee? And here’s a challenge—what about your enemies? How kind are you to those who want what you want or take what you have? How about the boss who fired you or the wife who left you. Mercy is the deepest gesture of kindness. The Apostle Paul said, ‘Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you!’ (Ephesians 4:32).”

Love you, Teri
