Good morning,
Has anyone tried to take a family picture lately? We just celebrated my Aunt Audrey’s 90th birthday out at our ranch and had most of the 33 people in our family together so we thought we would take a picture before the party started. Hilarious is the word anyone watching us get organized would use. I am “Serge in Charge”–that in itself gets the whole group laughing as I try and corral everyone. My sister calls it herding cats, because as you put one in the box, two more jump out…
The fun thing about a large family is all the personalities. We laugh a lot. My dad is the most positive person you will ever meet and it has shaped his five children and their families. The pictures of us getting organized for the picture are more fun to look at than the picture where we are all in our place and smiling for the camera.
That is really how life is. We have to enjoy the journey, be in the moment, have discipline, be patient in trials, honor people, and be cooperative and forgiving. Then with Christ first in our life, He gets us in place and makes the difference in a life that is ordinary or extraordinary, joyful and healthy!
The Bible has given us Proverbs in 31 little chapters, with short little verses that say: Do this; don’t do that. A chapter a day for each day of the month and then… start over again. If you want wisdom for a life that follows a course set by God, read the Proverbs for a couple months, or several years. Lady Wisdom is a treasure that will never rust, grow old, rot, or spoil.
Having an organized picture with my parents and Audrey, her four nieces and nephew, and then their families mixed all together behind was a bit of a process but, a lot of laughs and cooperation later, made for a really fun way to start the day celebrating our awesome aunt and a memory saved for a lifetime!
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)
Love you, Teri
