Good morning,
I saw a post this morning that simply said, “Delight yourself in the Lord.”
The Lord promises to give us the desires of our heart when we delight in Him. This doesn’t mean we will receive whatever we want, but rather that He will put HIS desires into OUR hearts. He will make His desires become our desires as we delight in Him.
I love that! Sometimes I think people see pleasing God as a report card or something. We do good, we get good. We please God with good grades and all our good behavior. I don’t think that is how God looks at us!!
I love my children so much bigger than that! I love them when they are succeeding and I love them when they are struggling. I love them when they call me because they lost the dog or they need help or they just figured a problem out. I love them because I am part of their whole life. I LOVE THAT THEY LOVE ME! If I love my children, how much more do you think God loves us, His children??
If the Bible says to “delight yourself in the Lord…” think about what the word “delight” means: a strong feeling of happiness, great pleasure or satisfaction, something that makes you very happy, something that gives you great pleasure or satisfaction.
God is Good! He wants you to delight yourself in Him! Take a few minutes each day or several times a day and just think about how happy you are to know and love Him. Be thankful that the desires for your life come from God and He is in you. Thankfully, we all have different desires and gifts and talents. Stop keeping a running report card of your life and start thinking on what is true, what is honest, what is lovely… Jesus is delightful!
Go out and accomplish things! Write, sing, build, play, work, love…
Love you, Teri
