Camp Cambria, Liberty on the Lake…

Good morning,

Last night our friends Marty and Anne hosted, along with many, many donors, a really spectacular benefit concert on the lake for Camp Cambria, which helps kids with childhood arthritis. The evening was perfect Minnesota summer weather with hundreds of boats out in the bay listening, too. The week before, another fundraiser, Liberty on the Lake, was held with Tim McGraw singing to help our hero servicemen and women.

The amount of work and “behind the scenes people” it takes to organize these events is awe-inspiring. Marty and Anne not only do this incredible work for kids with arthritis, but they organize several other huge events throughout the year for lots of other causes. If you have ever tried to raise money for something, it is work and lots of time, money, and dedication.

Why do it? Because it matters and it makes life good!!

I noticed these rockers in the bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tim McGraw, Chris Hawkey, etc… they wear big crosses and say, “God bless and love each other.” They know success and fame alone do not make you happy or give you a successful life. We all can define “successful” in our own way, but to know Christ, recognize and be thankful God is good as you live with peace, love, laughter, family, friends–and sometimes horrible loss or pain–and loving yourself while taking care of the people you can… My friends, that is successful to me.

Jesus is the single most famous person in all of history. He was only speaking his message in person for about three years. Some 2000 years later His message is still being spread and it is as true today as it was when He spoke his message then. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus came as a servant to help, heal, love, and be a gift. We are to do the same in our circle of people, to our ability, using our gifts and talents that He has given each of us. Nothing is more satisfying than giving from your heart and knowing you are being a good and faithful servant. Big HEART reward in that!

His Master replied, “Well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.” (Matthew 25:21)

Love you, Teri
