Every Day We Take a Walk

Good morning,

Every day my dog, Rocky, and I take a morning walk. On the walk I love to talk with God if we are by ourselves, visit with neighbors, or walk with a friend. A few mornings ago I saw Jessie, an electrician I work with periodically and he stopped his van to say hi. Jessie was doing a house in my neighborhood and we hadn’t seen each other in a year.

Last time I saw Jessie he was getting divorced and his life was pretty crazy. I asked him how he was and he said, “Really good.” He had a girlfriend and I asked about her and he told me she had four kids, but now three. I told him I was sorry she had lost one and he told how her son had overdosed on drugs while living at the dad’s house and then a short while later the dad took his life. I asked if she had faith to help her through all of this unbearable sadness. He then told me this story and I have thought about it so often:

Jessie told how it was around Christmas, I believe, or her son’s birthday–I can’t remember exactly. They were grocery shopping and saw a Father or Minister, he wasn’t sure, but he knew the collar he wore meant he was religious so Jessie went up to him and said, “She needs a prayer.” He said, “Sure.” As he put his hand on her and started to pray, three or four more people, strangers, in the store came over and put their hands on her and joined in the prayer over her.

I asked Jessie if she was comforted and helped by that. He said, “Oh yes, it helped so much.” He couldn’t believe how amazing it was right in the middle of Jubilee grocery store. I then asked if they go to a church now. He said, “No.”

My prayer is that a huge seed was planted in that grocery store. We are not meant or designed to live our life without the help of God. He has designed each person to have a hole in us that only He can fill.

I hope each person asks Christ to help them! He can forgive us anything, so we can forgive others and ourselves anything. He can comfort us, when nothing else can comfort us. He will help us learn new thoughts and self-talk and transform our mind. Hallelujah!

Love you, Teri
