Good morning,
Today is September 24th and my friend Kathy’s 60th birthday. I have known Kathy my whole life it seems. We met when I was five and she was six. We have not lived in the same state since about 6th grade for me, but have always stayed in touch.
She and her two older sisters feel more like the older sisters I never had and me and my three younger sisters are the younger sisters she never had. I have one brother and he is our shared male! Together, that is a lot of sisters!! Our female side is covered. Funny that each of us had only boy children!
One of the things I remember most about our childhood friendship was church! We played church, made our family sit around and come to our pretend church service. We went to Cathedral of the Pines Christian camp together. As we got older we shared books or thoughts about our belief. It was never religion to us. We went to different churches, even different denominations, but always, Jesus was who we wanted to understand.
Today, the daily scripture reading I flip each day on the counter is: The loving kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him. (Psalm 103:17)
Of course, Kathy and I had so much regular life stuff that has filled our years, like boyfriends, school, careers, trips, husbands, children, you name it, but I would say we have both felt the loving kindness of the Lord from everlasting to everlasting in every memory I look back on. If she needs me or I need her to pray about something, we are on it.
God gave us close friends so we can understand Jesus. He is our friend! He wants to pray with us. He wants to hear about our day. He wants to know our kids. He wants to spend everlasting to everlasting with each and every one of us. Ask Him into your life and ask Him to baptize you with the Holy Spirit. Feel His loving kindness.
