Good morning,
I read a devotional by Max Lucado about doubt. I think we all have a problem with wondering the worst: Did I make the right decision? Will my loved ones be safe? Will our country ever come together? Will the fires ever be stopped in California? …So many things to worry about.
I know with selling our house and moving, the questions were all there before we sold. The actual reality is awesome. I love that we did it. I like change and new experiences so I was scared of the change a little bit, but I went forward anyway.
I try not to default to all the negatives about a situation. I read the Bible each day, because the word of God is encouraging to believers. It says over and over again to believe and speak what you want. Speak that you are blessed and good things are yours. It says, sympathize with others and help them. It says, take action. It says, believe in the Lord Jesus, and all will be saved–you and your household.
One of the coolest things about the last night we had in our house as a family was me, baptizing Steve, Charlie, Jack, and Clara in our hot tub. Any Christ-filled believer can baptize people who believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He was raised from the dead for the forgiveness of our sins, and who want to be born again in their spirit. It was an epic memory that I will never forget and a wonderful closure to a huge part of our life in that awesome house. We can’t live in a bubble and never have any problems, but we can live in peace and have strength for any circumstance with the help of Jesus. Below is the Max Lucado devotional:
Doubt. He’s a nosy neighbor. He’s an obnoxious guest. He’ll pester you. He’ll irritate you. He’ll kick the stool out from under you and refuse to help you up. He doesn’t offer solutions, he only raises questions. Had any visits from Doubt lately?
If you find yourself going to church in order to be saved and not because you are saved, then you’ve been listening to him. If you find yourself doubting God could forgive you again for that, you’ve been sold some snake oil. If you are more cynical about Christians than sincere about Christ, then guess who came to dinner?
I suggest you put a lock on your gate. I suggest you post a “Do Not Enter” sign on your door. James 1:6 says, “Anyone who doubts is like a wave in the sea, blown up and down by the wind.”
Love you, Teri
