This is My Happy Place!

Good morning,

We just returned from a week out in Colorado over New Years. I bought some new coffee cups out there that say, ‘This is my happy place.’ They describe so simply and so well the mountains, people, and the atmosphere of a skier’s most desirable place!

January is a new beginning for a lot of us who either set New Year’s resolutions or plan their year with goals and health changes. I like to fast for several weeks at the beginning of the year. Fasting is a way to deny yourself something on purpose to quiet your inner self and let your spirit be fed. This is my happy place… for my spirit. When your spirit is in charge you naturally spend more time with God. The more time you spend with God, the more you understand that the best gift you can ever acquire is peace and joy.

How many of us know people who have a huge career or plenty of money and fame and they are angry, anxious, unhappy people? Have you ever traveled with someone who finds fault and is rude to everyone around them? Have you worked for a person who constantly complains and attacks their co-workers?

Peace and joy come from your spirit. Jesus made so many things possible for us starting with salvation, etc., but He gave us a new commandment: to love one another. Grace was given to us so we could have peace. Mercy was given to us so we could have joy. Holy Spirit was given to us to help us, teach us, comfort us, protect us, etc.

Fruits of the spirit are true riches: peace, joy, love, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, kindness, and self-control.

What good is money, job, travel, family, you name it… If you don’t have peace or joy!

Let this new year be rich with love for one another, peace with who you are, and joy that your spirit is fed to the brim with things God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit freely want you to have by believing in them, adhering to them, trusting in them, and relying on them! This is my happy place!

Love you, Teri
