Good morning,
When I started our Bible study almost 10 years ago now, I chose a study Bible by a person who was abused as a child in her own home, divorced, very angry and full of mean, bitter words and unforgiveness. She lost all her friends, married again, has four children, is a cancer survivor, etc… I figured if she can know the love of God, forgive her own father for such unbearable betrayal to her as a child, be a victor and not a victim, be a solid leader of a huge ministry, then we, as a Bible study group, could trust she found a healed, forgiving, shame-free life through God’s Word, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit her teacher and comforter, then our life problems could be taken to the cross, too!
In the study Bible there is commentary from her on most pages. We can read how this scripture or that one applies to her transformation from a very damaged person that applied what God was saying and it kept setting her free! We all want to be free! Have you seen that new commercial about some tax company and all they say is, “free, free, free, free!!”
Love you, Teri
This is one of her commentaries in the teaching Bible on Isaiah 54: 4 that she titled,
Free From Shame.
Do you have a shame-based nature? Are you rooted or grounded in shame? The curse and power of shame can be broken off from you through the power of God.
We know from Isaiah 54:4 that the Lord has promised to remove the shame and dishonor from us so that we remember it no more. In fact, God has promised that in their place He will put out upon us a twofold blessing. We will possess double what we have lost, and we will have everlasting joy(see Isaiah 61:7.)
Take your stand on the Word of God. Become rooted and grounded , not in shame and dishonor, but in the love of Christ, being complete in Him.
Ask the Lord to work a healing miracle in your mind, will , and emotions. Let Him come in and fulfill what He came to do: heal our broken heart, bind up your wounds, give you beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, a garment of praise instead of heaviness, and a double honor for a double shame. (see Isaiah 61:1-3)
Determine that from this moment on you are going to reject the roots of bitterness, shame, negativism, and perfectionism, and nourish the roots of joy, peace, love and power.
By faith, draw the bloodline of Jesus Christ across your life and boldly declare that you are healed from the pains and wounds of your past; you have been set free to live a new life of health and wholeness. Continue to praise the Lord and confess His Word over yourself, claiming His forgiveness, cleansing and healing.
Stop blaming yourself and feeling guilty, unworthy and unloved. Instead begin to say, “If God is for me, who can be against? God loves me, and I love myself. Praise the Lord, I am free in Jesus’ name, amen!”
