Is This the Wise Thing to Do?

Good morning,

I just returned from a girls’ trip to California with wonderful friends. We headed to L.A. from Palm Springs and it is about a two-hour ride so we listened to a podcast by life coach, Andy Stanley.  He has a TV show called “Your Move,” so I was familiar with him. The topic was drama! Andy is a very funny guy! We laughed most of the time while learning a very important question we should ask ourselves: Is this the wise thing to do? Not the best thing to do or the right thing to do, but, is this the wise thing to do?

I don’t know about you, but I do not like drama. I frame my life to be as drama-free as possible. So, I was interested in any ideas Andy had on the subject.

I had not heard Andy Stanley’s podcast before, but I absolutely agree with his question. Being wise eliminates so much struggle. I believe Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to each one of us so we could have a wise guide who lives on the inside of each one of us. When we choose to pray, fill our minds with The Word, avoid gossip, and take action on situations, we are being wise. The wisdom of God is yet another gift we receive as Christ followers.

I follow quite a few “wise people” on Instagram and the posts you read every day give insight into how much we need and want inspiration, hope, wisdom. I just started following Sara Blakely. She started the company Spanks, and has four kids under ten. I really liked this wise post from her:

The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest!

I can see Jesus clapping and saying, “Yes, you understand!”

Love you, Teri
