Good morning,
Last week my sister Barb lost a close friend of hers of 28 years suddenly in her sleep for no apparent reason at 53 years old. Her name is Carolyn Broghammer. She was so fun, cool, always warm, and caring. I knew her because she came to my house a few times and taught me “Holy Yoga.” Holy Yoga was her ministry as a Christ-filled person who loved Jesus. She would be bent into a pretzel and I was struggling to touch my toes or hold tree pose!! We laughed a lot!! Carolyn was so secure in her faith. Every person who knew her, and mostly her family, is so reassured knowing that she is in heaven.
Carolyn and her husband, Brett, were married for 29 years, but met and dated since they were 16, making it 37 years together, 4 kids, and 1 grandchild. He wrote the most beautiful message about her infectious personality that drew people to her and their family and how her example of love and faith will endure for each of their lifetimes and that he was simply in awe of her so often and so blessed to be her husband.
At the funeral they had a table filled with “Jesus Calling Devotionals” along with a note that read:
The day Carolyn passed away and after she was taken for our home, I went back up to our bedroom and stood in her closet trying to be close to her somehow.
I saw this daily devotional sitting on her dresser and I stood there and read it. It brought me comfort immediately and has been bringing me comfort every day since. The last two sentences on the August 1 page, which was the day she passed away, spoke to me especially. She started every day like this and continued to read scripture and listen to Christian radio throughout the day. Continually educating herself.
As a remembrance of her, I know that she would love you to take one of these daily devotional and start using it everyday. If this helps spark your faith or helps you grow, I know she would be so happy and proud that we are giving these to you today.
All of God’s blessings, The Broghammer family.
Only God can have this family thinking about others, feeling such comfort, and having such faith! Carolyn’s faith mattered. Your faith matters! When you die will your family know where your spirit is? Our spirit will live for eternity. If you have not asked Christ into your life, sit down wherever you are and just say, “Help, I need you in my life to love me, forgive me, and never leave me! Thank you, Jesus!” From that moment on you will know where your spirit will be for eternity, forever in the presence of God in heaven.
Love you, Teri
