Good morning,
I was listening to Jesse Duplantis, a minister on TV who uses humor and laughter in all his sermons. He was saying how he loves the book of Genesis in the Bible and he loves the book Ephesians. He was joking that the one book is all about creating the world and all the people in it and that God is good and planned great things for us. We, as in Adam and Eve, on the other hand, screwed up most of Genesis, but God had a plan to fix that. The other book, Ephesians, is all about how Jesus “fixed” our relationship with God and that those who ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior are consecrated and set apart, we are loved by God and all the ways He wants to care for and adopt us. Jesse was laughing that it is good to be adopted by God, the inheritance alone is crazy! It caught my ear because I love Ephesians too!
The first chapter of Ephesians is telling each of us how much God loves us, that He planned for us, that He wants us to live blessed, in peace with unmerited favor, grace, and mercy, and that we obtained an inheritance.
The caveat in all of this is we have to want God the Father!
We have to receive the gift of salvation–His Son into our heart–freely, without any help from trying to be good or perfect. If we do that it means we are consecrated and set apart. We don’t have to feel guilty or bad about all of our weaknesses and faults. We are written in the Lambs book of life. That is the inheritance book. Nice thing is that God the Father, His Son Christ Jesus, and Holy Spirit seal you with their love and you can say, “I belong to God!” I love that!!! I want what He is offering me.
I was riding my bike and I had my three-year-old grandson, Beau, on the back and we were talking about people that Beau knew and he said, “Grandma, I love everybody!” Then he laughed a big belly laugh. This is what we are to be like! We can give away what we have been given… we can love everybody!
Love you, Teri
