Beau and the Superhero Brunch

Good morning,

Last weekend my grandson, Beau, went to a superhero brunch with his other grandma. The pictures were adorable of tiny Beau dressed as a superhero standing with the other grown-up superheroes. They all wore costumes that had extra muscles sewn in and shields and masks. Beau’s face was painted with a red mask. It was so cute, and I think his eyebrows are still red! It made me think of how often the Bible talks about and uses the word “super.” The Bible is where the comic books got the phrase “super.”

With God the Bible says, Ephesians 3:20: Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayer, hope or dreams.] according to His power that is at work within us. 

Ephesians 6:12: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this present darkness against the spiritual forces of wicked ness in heavenly (supernatural) places.

This scripture gives us insight into the spiritual war that all believers are in. Our enemies are not natural, but spiritual. We will never win our battles if we fight against the wrong source in a wrong way. We tend to think that people or circumstance are our problem, but the source of many of our troubles is Satan and his demons. We cannot fight him with natural weapons, but only with supernatural ones that God gives us for the destruction of fortresses Satan builds in our minds.

He gives us armor: A wide band of Truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist. Put on the breast plate of righteousness (an upright heart). Strap on your feet the Gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. Above all, lift up the protective shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. The Helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit with the Word of God. With all the prayer and petition with specific requests at all times, on every occasion, in every season, in the Spirit!

It is amazing to me how many things all start from the Bible and then are twisted and turned. Real supernatural power comes from God! All other superheroes are make believe! Adorable like Beau, but fake. God is the real thing! Hallelujah!
