My Dad’s Hospital Stay

Good morning,

I heard a teaching yesterday about what kind of fragrance people bring into a room. The minister was not talking about an odor or a smell, but rather our essence. Do you come into a room and it fills up with the fragrance of God? A pleasing place to be that makes you want to stay and breathe in the smell and peace of something good!

My dad has been in the hospital since Sunday night with a condition called Charles Bonnet Syndrome. It has to do with your eyes going blurry and not seeing well. It can cause all sorts of weird things like hallucinations and confusion. Thankfully, it was not a stroke or anything worse and with lots of sleep and some things to do if it happens again, we know what to do.

The thing about his hospital stay is all the nurses commented on how happy, thankful, and pleasant our dad is! He never complains or is found without a huge smile on his face. He tells each of them how wonderful they are! When asked how he is, he answers, “never better.” They tell us what a lovely presence is in his room.

That is the fragrance of Christ, in my dad that oozes out of him. In any circumstance my Dad is representing God! People smell it, feel it, hear it, and want to be around it.

We have to stop and think, what fragrance do I bring into a room?

Love you, Teri
