A Birthday Card for Jesus

Good morning,

I was up early this morning and went to get a coffee and drove through our little town of Excelsior. It is a Normal Rockwell painting kind of town. Each street has snow-covered trees and Christmas lights on most houses. Inside big picture windows you can see twinkle lights on Christmas trees, lit and glowing in each home. It just makes me warm and cozy inside and my heart just is filled with thankfulness for what all the lights and trees and boughs of evergreen and wreaths are for. Love came down! The Light of the world is here! It is Jesus’s birthday! I wrote a birthday card to Jesus about 10 years ago. I will attach it below:

Merry Christmas,

I was thinking it really is Jesus’s birthday. Have you ever thought about sending Him a card? Santa gets mail. The card could be hard to pick. What kind would you choose—humorous, sentimental, reverent? Even blank inside would work. I received a card once and printed on the front of the card were porch stairs and it read:

If I could sit across the porch from God… (then on the inside it said:)

I’d thank Him for lending me you.

I think I would choose a card like that for Jesus’s birthday card. On the cover it would say:

If I could sit across the porch with You on Your birthday… (on the inside it would say:)

     AWESOME!!

I would write:

Happy Birthday, Jesus,

Wow, another year older and You still look 33! It’s those amazing genes. You are so special and such a gift to whosoever believes in You!! I hope this year brings You tremendous joy with millions and millions coming to know Your love. I hope You are blessed by Your children, with them rejoicing always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances. I hope Your small animals get to ride in cars with wind in their faces and large animals get puddles—OK, ponds—to splash and shoot water in the air, and that they make you laugh!

I hope Your birthday is filled with celebrations, wonderful food, lights, fireworks, shouts of cheers, singing, laughing, and dancing, all in honor of You!! Everyone who knows You will be thinking of You on Your special day. You would say, “Join us, join us, the more the merrier!!” I love that about You, inviting everyone. I hope that we will have eyes and ears to see the lonely, hurting, and struggling and you would say, “bless their hearts” as you watch us help them like You would do in a minute.

I want to end Your card with a huge thank you for holding my hand this year when I was troubled by Bell’s palsy. You would whisper, “They’re looking at your heart, this too shall pass,” and You were right, they were and it did. Thank you for my generous, rock solid Steve. Thank you that Charlie and Jack are strong, well-adjusted, and kind and that your angels are always watching over them. Thank you for our precious families and friends I pray you will bless them and keep them healthy, happy, and prosperous this year. Thank you for being our Healer, our Helper, and Friend. Thank you for being Patient, Kind, Forgiving, Glorious, Peaceful, All Powerful, Above All, Mighty, Holy and most of all, our Redeemer.

Nice sitting on the porch with You.  Happy Birthday, Jesus!!

Love your child & friend, Teri
