Kobe Bryant

Good morning,

This past weekend, the whole world felt the loss of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and all the other people on the helicopter. Even if you didn’t follow basketball you had probably seen his face and knew something about him. His smile was always the first thing I noticed about him. He looked joyful. I saw a reporter talking about when she interviewed him and asked about all his daughters and his wife was pregnant at the time. Kobe didn’t hesitate when asked if he would be sad if his fourth child was a girl and said, “I would have five more girls. I am a girl dad!” Chrissy Teigen on her Instagram wrote, “Someone take care of all the broken hearts dealing with unimaginable loss.”

There is only one person who can help us with unimaginable loss: Jesus! He died to give us grace for things that we can’t do ourselves.

Just like that horrible helicopter accident that happened in a second. We don’t know when our time is up. We have to live with an eternal perspective. Life as we know it here on earth is so short, we can enter into the eternal so quickly and unexpectedly. It is so important we have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Jesus isn’t a teacher looking at our report card. Jesus is a teacher that brought Good News! He taught: believe in me and I will help you with life on earth and make a place for you to live for eternity with Me! I forgive you, go forgive others. I love you, go love others! I am the way, the truth, and the light, go spread my light of hope!

If you have children like Kobe did, you know and agree with him that the gender doesn’t matter. WE adore our helpless, needy little babies because they are ours. If you think about it, God gave us the blessing of children so we would understand why he created us in the first place.

God created us not to get joy but to give joy!

We center our life around God not just to be spiritual in some way or to get a bit of inspiration when times are tough. We are made to center everything in our life around triune God; that’s where we find our true joy. He is our Father who we, believers in His Son, will spend eternity with.

Love you, Teri
