BEST. DAY. EVER.

Good morning,

I bought the greatest book a few weeks ago for my darling grandson, Beau, and his parents. The book is titled BEST. DAY. EVER., by Joyce Meyer. It is short parent/kid devotions for 101 days. I love the title so much and all the contents.

Last time I wrote, my wood floor had been sold out from under our noses and we had to go to “now what” mode! I prayed instead of being afraid. Guess what? It all worked out to my advantage! Surprised, I am not!

I chose to let God help me with something not as hard as sickness, loss, finances, etc., but still a problem in my life. Doesn’t matter our situations. He is always with us and available, so I kept my thoughts far away from fear and worry. There is a cute devotion in the BEST. DAY. EVER. book that goes like this:

Don’t be afraid!

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Right now. Wherever you are reading these words, you need to know one thing: God is with you. Yep! It’s true. Though you may not see Him or feel Him, He is by your side. That means you are never alone and have nothing to fear.

But, maybe you’ve got through a situation where you were really afraid. You might have experienced something that scared you and it’s been giving you bad dreams. And when nighttime comes, you really don’t want to go to bed. You want to stay up–anything not to be alone. But, remember, you are never alone–never, never, NEVER. Think about God like you do a best friend–one of your friends that you have tons of fun with! The laugh-so-hard-you-can’t-even-stand type of giggling. The type of friend that you can tell anything to! A best friend who sticks up for you when people aren’t kind and the type of friend where you can finish each others’ sentences.

Got that type of friend in mind? OK, now add a million to that feeling, multiply it by a trillion…and then you might get close to the type of friend God is to you. So, yes, you may be afraid, you may have nightmares now and again, but remember who is on your side: God!

And, as you lay in your bed, talk to God and ask Him to protect your dreams and allow you to get good sleep! Sure, you may have to do it over and over again, but do not give up! God will help you overcome your fear!

Kid prayer: God, You are bigger than fear, so I’m asking YOU to send fear running!

Parent prayer: God, I will not fear! As a family, we will stand up to fear with the truth of Your Word–no matter the situation!

Love you, Teri
