Good morning,
I saw a sermon on positive faith this morning. It really hit home with me. Positive faith is speaking what you hope for, not rehearsing a negative thing that you have. My awesome friend Marla and I just did a three-day road trip from Florida to Minnesota. We would speak Psalm 91 over our travels every day, along with our family and friends and off we would go on the highway for eight hours. I trusted God would provide our protection and that we could enjoy the journey.
We listened to a book on tape for the first two days by Jessica Simpson. Her biography was captivating to us as we listened to her bare all her pressures and anxieties she dealt with living her life in front of the world at such a young age. Her relationship with Christ is real and a constant thread through her story. It really showed the flaws we have as Christians moving away from God and wondering how He keeps finding us as we get distracted by other things and wonder where He is. We realize: He never moved, we did. Through it all, Jessica has tremendous positive faith.
Positive faith is one of the things we should always work on. Saying what you want and need and then believing God for it takes action. Faith and fear are two different things. Look at your past texts to someone. How many negative words did you use. Is fear of sickness, disaster, or worry peppered through your message? If so, rewrite it and drop the negative. See if you can write again brave in positive words for things you want for them or you. You don’t have to send it, just practice positive speaking. Negative, fear-based speaking is a habit and it can be changed.
The news is fear personified lately. See it for what it is and live your life knowing whatever comes your way–healing, finances, peace, love–they all are yours and with God you can overcome with joy! Don’t say, “Yes, but look at all the people sick.” They are not you and you have Christ and He wants you well–mind, body, and spirit.
Marla and I had such faith in Psalm 91, the prayer of protection, that we knew Angels were in the car and around the car every second and that we would be safe, and not just safe but enjoying our trip! We laughed, talked, enjoyed the scenery, and felt relaxed and connected to our family and friends as we traveled along the way.
Build your positive faith and believe in the authority Jesus has over every situation.
Love you, Teri
