Good morning,
On Thursday mornings my sister, Barb and I teach a Bible study at my Mom’s senior residence. We are in the book of John and in chapter six it says over and over, like eight times, the work we are to do is Believe. Believe Jesus is our Savior.
It feels too easy almost that the work of believing is what God wants.
Chapter six says, believe in, adhere to, trust in and rely on. I call it, B.A.T.R. like in baseball.
We all like to achieve and have accomplishments and strive to be better in life and in being a christian. That is all good but, it is not the main thing. The main and central part of being a christian is to believe. You don’t get graded on it, measured on it or somehow have a report card to show people. Believing is personal. It is the work we are to do. Loving Jesus is believing He loved you, died and rose again to save you now and in eternity from separation from God.
I watched the movie, “After Death” this weekend and wow it is powerful! It is about near death experiences of people who clinically died and then came back. Every single person did not want to come back. They said we are more alive as a spirit than in our body. If they were atheist they came back a complete believer in Jesus and told that Hell is real. The moment the atheist yelled out,” Jesus save me” a light reached out and pulled him up. All told of the Light as complete love and compassion.
They all came back believing and telling; the most important thing is to believe in Jesus and to love people. That is exactly what the Bible say!
Love you, Teri
