Rose in the Vase or Dust on the Table?

Good morning,

I saw Matthew McConaughey being interviewed and he said that his Mom has a favorite saying, “Are you going to see the rose in the vase or the dust on the table?” He explained if my attitude wasn’t right she would send me back to my bed and I had to get under the covers and then start completely over with my day, come back to the table and say,” Wow, eggs for breakfast, fantastic, thanks Mom.” She knew the importance of gratitude. It starts at the beginning of the day! We choose it!

I could not agree with her more! My Dad was the most grateful guy I know. A song was always on his lips, Count Your Many Blessings, was one of his favorite songs . He smiled all the time and truly loved his life, family and first was Jesus.

When we give thanks to God in prayer, even when it’s hard to, we are promised comfort and provision for our needs. The Bible has many, many verses about a grateful heart. Learn them, train yourself to start the day with thankfulness and a grateful attitude and you will be so much happier, have hope, feel closer to God and you and your friends and family will benefit greatly.

Love you, Teri
