Good morning,
I love the month of December! It is the month we celebrate Jesus birth and all that He did for the human race. It is my son, Jack’s birthday too. We celebrate Jack on the 7th. Jesus is a month long celebration, decorating our homes, businesses, buying gifts, dinner parties, and then Christmas eve and day with our families. No other holiday has a month dedicated to it.
Jesus is so special that all calendars are based off of before His birth and after it (AD or BC). Jesus, providing to whosoever chooses to believe in His offer of salvation… can have it!
I saw a post and the guy was saying He believes Jesus has a Love Language. Have you heard of the book, The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Gary says we all have a way that we feel loved the best and they fall into five categories:
Words of affirmation,
Quality time,
receiving gifts,
acts of service,
physical touch.
He adds a warning: Understanding the five love languages and learning to speak the primary love language of your spouse may radially affect his or her behavior. People behave differently when their emotional love tanks are full.
The love language the guy posted for Jesus was: Obey! When we obey the commands of Jesus that is our heart posture. When we forgive someone, give a smile, spend time with someone hurting, give a sacrifice of prayer for each other, act merciful, add our positive to faith, give grace to each other, thank Him all the time, receive from Him, etc..These things we give and get from our heart.
Going to church, reading the Bible out of obligation or duty but, not having heart change, is just works without substance. It is like feeling God loves me when I do good and He is mad at me when I do bad. Report card stuff. The way you know you love Jesus is if you WANT to obey, WANT to go to church and then you do!!!
This Christmas I feel like I was given such a gift looking at “obey” as a love language to Jesus!
Love you, Teri
