Dad’s Last Christmas

Good morning,

I was thinking about the last Christmas my Dad was alive. It was covid lock down at the care facility he was at so a group of us gathered around outside and connected with him thru two iPhones and a window. My family is quite large and even a small group of us can be 20 people easy.

Our family knows our Dad, we know anytime we see him he is jolly, loving, warm, engaged, happy. His first words when we ask how he is come out,”never better!” That is exactly how he was that Christmas morning through the window. He never changed from who we all knew at his heart level.

His short term memory was gone and he was not able to take care of himself but who he was never changed! He knew his family and he was delighted to see us. I never once felt one day in my life that my Dad would not love me or forgive me anything if I asked because of the way he always had such patience and unconditional love. He would say in every prayer how thankful he was and how much he loved his family. He told us and showed us, he was Loved by Jesus and he loved so much because of Jesus.

Do you know Jesus? Do you know Jesus at His heart level?

The Bible says this about Him…Jesus guards, He guides, He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners. He discharges debtors. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent, and He beautifies the meek. Now that’s my Jesus!

Do you we ask ourselves, do we know how He is? Do we place more weight on our ever-shaking circumstances than we do on His unshakeable character? Are we still more confident in our ability to get it right than we are in the fact that He is always right and always good?

We can approach Jesus with assurance, just like I could with my earthly Dad not because we’re perfect but because Jesus is and we are His children!

All Jesus asks is that we believe He is our Savior and we want Him in our life as King. So simple a choice, such overwhelming goodness comes from that choice. Choose Him today, don’t wait.

Love you, Teri

Here are the ABC’s of asking Him into your life.

A) Acknowledge you are a sinner. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

B) Believe that Jesus died for your sins. For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shallot perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

C) Confess that Jesus is Lord. If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart the God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
